Muslim Charities Forum is deeply shocked and saddened by the heinous attack on a synagogue in Heaton Park, Manchester, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jewish community in Manchester and across the UK.

Attacks on our mosques and synagogues are attacks on the very fabric of our diverse society, and they deserve the strongest possible condemnation. Such acts leave communities shaken and fearful. Now more than ever, it is important for faith and community leaders across all faiths and backgrounds, to stand in solidarity.

We stand shoulder to shoulder, reaffirming our commitment to building bridges of peace and understanding between our communities and fostering a society that is diverse, cohesive and vibrant.
