Muslim Charities Forum (MCF) strongly condemns Israel’s suspension of 37 international humanitarian organisations operating in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territory at a time of unprecedented humanitarian need.

Recent rule changes imposed by Israeli authorities have been widely condemned by the humanitarian sector as invasive, excessive and unreasonable, undermining the principles of humanitarian neutrality and independence. These measures form part of a broader pattern in which humanitarian access and aid is being restricted and weaponised.

Our members and the broader humanitarian sector are playing a critical role in delivering life-saving assistance in Palestine, including operating hospitals and clinics, providing warm food, and shelter. The removal of these organisations and the constant curbing of humanitarian assistance will have fatal consequences for the people of Gaza.

Fadi Itani OBE, CEO of MCF said:

“Preventing humanitarian organisations from operating in Gaza, where experts have warned of an ongoing genocide, is a question of life-and-death. Restricting aid under these conditions will cost lives. What is needed urgently is full, unhindered humanitarian access.”

MCF calls on the British Government to take urgent diplomatic action to oppose and halt Israel’s suspension of international humanitarian organisations, and to ensure unimpeded humanitarian access to Palestine.
