About the Role

MCF is seeking an analytical, research-driven Junior Policy Officer to support our growing Policy & Advocacy workstream. In this role, you will assist in drafting high-level policy briefings, monitoring sector-wide legislative developments, and generating the data-driven evidence bases required to challenge structural inequalities. From monitoring the impacts of national cohesion strategies to assisting with submissions to Parliamentary select committees, you will help provide the intellectual and empirical foundation for MCF’s advocacy. This role offers an excellent career accelerator for an ambitious policy professional looking to make a systemic impact on public debate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track legislative changes, select committee inquiries, public consultations, and think-tank research relevant to Muslim civil society.
  • Assist in collecting and analysing sector-held qualitative and quantitative data to build evidence bases for policy briefs.
  • Support the policy team in drafting consultation responses, parliamentary briefings, newsletter content, and sector articles.
  • Assist in preparing professional briefings and strategic background profiles ahead of MCF engagement with Parliamentarians, civil servants, and cross-sector allies.
  • Provide administrative support for the delivery of policy roundtables, seminars, and high-level launch events.

Person Specification

  • A degree or professional experience in public policy, political science, anthropology, or a related research-heavy discipline.
  • Excellent research and data literacy skills, with an ability to synthesise policy documents or legislation accurately.
  • Strong written communication skills, capable of drafting compelling prose for a variety of audiences, including policymakers, media, and grassroots members.

  • Highly disciplined with a strong attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple overlapping project deadlines.
