Operations Associate

Muslim Charities Forum (MCF)

  • Location: London (Waterloo) / Hybrid
  • Working pattern: Office attendance required Monday to Thursday, 9.30am–5.30pm; Fridays working from home
  • Salary: £26,000–£30,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Reporting to: CEO / Head of Operations

Role Overview

We are seeking a versatile, high-ownership Operations Associate to act as the engine for the CEO and senior leadership at the Muslim Charities Forum (MCF). Functioning similarly to a “Founder’s Associate”, this role is designed for a generalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and ground-level execution, taking ownership of digital infrastructure, event logistics support, data analytics, and executive stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Digital Transformation & Infrastructure

  • CRM & Database Management: Oversee and maintain MCF’s custom digital infrastructure, including monitoring deployments and managing databases. Experience with Vercel, Supabase, or similar environments is a strong advantage, though it can be learned.
  • Data & Analytics: Extract, compile, and format website performance metrics using Google Analytics (GA4) and WordPress to generate reports for the Board of Trustees and external funders.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Act as the first line of defence for digital bottlenecks, bridging the gap between non-technical staff and technical platforms.

2. High-Level Event Logistics & Operations

  • Executive Retreats: Manage end-to-end logistics for closed-door, high-profile events, including complex venue coordination, room allocations, email newsletters (Mailchimp), and ticketing systems (e.g., Ticket Tailor).
  • External Exhibitions: Execute operational planning for external sector events and political party conferences, managing supplier relationships, branding deployments (e.g., exhibition shells, roller banners), and on-site logistics.
  • Speaker & Stakeholder Liaison: Draft highly professional correspondence, manage speaker briefs, and coordinate with VIPs, charity CEOs, and external facilitators.

3. Executive Support & Strategic Delivery

  • Board & C-Suite Support: Compile briefing documents, action logs, and strategic reports for board meetings on behalf of the CEO.
  • Cross-Functional Delivery: Pivot rapidly to support different departments, filling operational gaps and ensuring projects maintain momentum during periods of high demand.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

  • You are exceptionally versatile. You are just as comfortable writing a polite disengagement email to a VIP as you are looking at server logs or organising a 48-hour residential retreat.
  • You don’t necessarily need prior experience, but you do need to be willing to learn fast.
  • You don’t need to be micromanaged. You see a bottleneck, propose a mathematical or logical solution, and execute it.
  • You have an inherent comfort with digital tools and backend systems. You don’t need to be a full-stack developer, but you should understand how web applications and databases connect.
  • You can handle shifting priorities and deadlines, and you’re comfortable dealing with high-level executives across the charity sector.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: £26,000–£30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • The Real Perk: This role offers unparalleled, direct exposure to the C-suite of the UK’s largest Muslim-led charities. You will be working closely with sector leaders, building a personal network, and gaining hands-on experience in digital, strategy, and high-level operations that would take years to acquire in a standard corporate role.
  • Annual Leave: 25 days plus bank holidays, with a comprehensive time off in lieu (TOIL) policy for any weekend event work.

A Note on Experience

We care far more about your trajectory than a perfect track record. We are looking for someone with a high willingness to learn on the job, adapt quickly, and grow alongside the organisation long-term. If you are highly versatile, proactive, and ready to get stuck into the work, we strongly encourage you to apply, even if you do not meet every single bullet point in the experience criteria.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit the following to info@muslimcharitiesforum.org.uk:

  • A CV (maximum 2 pages)
  • A cover letter (maximum 2 pages) detailing how your mindset and skills align with the demands of this role
