‘MCF offers an incredibly valuable learning experience through its Future Leaders Program and I highly recommend it to any prospective individuals who have a passion for the sector.’
After having graduated from SOAS with a MSc in African Politics, I was hoping to build upon my experience by looking into opportunities within the development sector. Although I have an academic background, unfortunately, as I was exploring avenues to help me do so, I found that it was very difficult without years’ worth of experience. So, when I came across the chance to work with MCF I was very excited to join and learn more about the British Muslim charitable sector.
To be part of such a welcoming and supportive team has been a major highlight of my time with MCF. It has truly been a privilege to work alongside such a skilled, knowledgeable and warm group of individuals. They have all each contributed towards the positive experience I have had. Even between fast-paced moments whilst working on upcoming events, the atmosphere at MCF has always remained very relaxed and friendly, this is hugely due to the high standard of professionalism everyone works at. It has been a real comfort knowing that I can rely on every single one of my colleagues for assistance wherever and whenever I have needed it. MCF provides an encouraging and positive learning environment that I have genuinely benefited from. Because of this experience I have gained new-found confidence in articulating myself, presenting research and interacting with many different people across the charitable sector.
Interning at MCF has been an incredibly rewarding experience. My time with them allowed me to gain much-needed insight into the world of the charitable sector. The internship afforded me with several opportunities to attend events where I built upon my networking skills and met people from varying backgrounds with impressive expertise in their respective fields. I found this to be one of the most valuable aspects of my time with MCF; meeting reputable individuals, well-known speakers and people who are making great strides across the sector was very inspiring for me. The CEO was also able to organise meetings with a range of successful people that have talked to me and others who are also on the Future Leaders Programme about their respective professions.
Over the past six months at MCF, I have acquired a range of skills that I am confident will help me as I pursue my career ambitions. I have a keen interest in international politics, governance and the empowerment of women. I look forward to seeking opportunities within community-led, grassroot movements as I am passionate about contributing to progressive change. MCF offers an incredibly valuable learning experience through its Future Leaders Program and I highly recommend it to any prospective individuals who have a passion for the sector.
