We are pleased to announce the official call for papers for MCF’s Zakat edition of ‘The Forum’
journal.

The edition will mark the first journal publication of the UK Muslim charity sector dedicated to
Zakat.

The publication will collate papers addressing a variety of topics pertaining to issues of Zakat
collection and distribution by charities.

The aim of the edition is to set the foundations for formal, systematic research and dialogue on
the topic of Zakat collection and distribution within the Muslim charity sector, in order to improve
standards amongst organisations nationwide.

The theme of the publication is as follows: Zakat Collection and Distribution: Modern
Challenges, Practical Solutions.

Papers may address any topics which addresses the theme above. For example, papers may
discuss and analyse current challenges of Zakat collection/distribution facing charities and then
go on to offer insightful, well-developed, practical solutions to such challenges. Though, papers
may solely focus on challenges.

MCF welcomes innovative and more theoretically based contributions to invigorate the dialogue
on Zakat, once they prove to be of conceptual and/or practical benefit for UK Muslim charities.
