Following the stepping down as Chairman by MCF founder Dr Hany El-Banna, Muslim Charities Forum is delighted to welcome a new Chairman, Moazzam Malik CMG, to the Board of Trustees.

Moazzam Malik CMG joins us from a background in international affairs and government. He served as Director-General Africa in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) from September 2020 to May 2022. His thematic responsibilities included conflict and stabilisation, good governance and human rights, economic development and the Commonwealth.

Prior to that, he was British Ambassador to Indonesia. He has held a range of senior roles at the UK Department for International Development including Director General for Country Programmes, Director for Western Asia, and Principal Private Secretary.

He is currently Managing Director for Global Delivery at World Resources Institute. He champions WRI’s mission in Asia and the Middle East, and oversees the institutional infrastructure and systems required to deliver WRI’s ambitious global strategy and country strategies.

“I am honoured to join MCF as Chair. Driven by the deep generosity of faith communities, the sector is growing rapidly. MCF is committed to supporting its members to strengthen their impact, accountability and connection with the people they serve. I look forward to working with our members and partners to showcase the active contribution of the British Muslim charity sector at home and abroad.”

We welcome Moazzam to Muslim Charities Forum and look forward to working with him.

MCF are deeply grateful to the service of outgoing Chair, Dr Hany El-Banna, as founder, guide and an inspiration for his services to humanitarian causes and to the sector.
