MCF Welcomes the UK Government’s Ban on Illegal Israeli Settlement Goods 

Muslim Charities Forum welcomes the Government’s decision to ban the import of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the Occupied West Bank. This long overdue step marks a significant shift in UK foreign policy, moving beyond recognising the settlements’ illegality to taking meaningful action to hold the Israeli government to account. 

However, serious humanitarian challenges persist. Since last October’s ceasefire, Israel has killed more than 1,300 people in Gaza, including over 300 children. There continues to be severe restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid, preventing life-saving assistance from reaching civilians facing catastrophic conditions driven by mass displacement, acute food and water insecurity, and a collapsed healthcare system. 

Fadi Itani OBE, the CEO of Muslim Charities Forum, said: “While we commend the Foreign Secretary for this announcement, the real test will be robust implementation. The Government must go further, ensuring unrestricted humanitarian access into Gaza and working to ultimately bring about a lasting peace.” 

MCF urges the Government to continue exerting diplomatic pressure to allow aid into Gaza, end ongoing violations of international law, and help build a safer and more hopeful future for the Palestinian people.
